Cordless Phone ProblemsCordless phone technology has progressed greatly in recent years. In particular cordless phone interference is much less of an issue than it was before the era of the cordless digital telephone. The latest and best cordless phone frequencies are 1.9 GHz (DECT 6.0 phones) and 5.8 GHz. Phones using these bandwidths are immune to interference from WiFi networks and electronic equipment. They are also secure and almost impossible to eavesdrop. Which Cordless Phone Frequency?Until recently the best digital cordless phone systems used the 5.8 GHz cordless phone frequency. It superseded earlier 900 MHz and 2.4 GHz phones that had issues not only with interference, but also security. The latest digital technology makes scanning cordless phones almost impossible. DECT 6.0 vs. 5.8 GHz 4 Line Phone SystemsFor these reasons many multi line telephones use the 5.8 GHz cordless phone frequency. The only catch is that each manufacturer implements the technology differently. Some are good and some are not. Panasonic and Uniden 5.8 GHz phones are some of the best. On the other hand DECT 6.0 phones use a non-proprietary international standard. It not only reduces the cost of developing and manufacturing phones, but results in a consistent level of quality across all brands.
