Panasonic KX-TG1062M - Corded Cordless DECT 6.0 Cordless Phone

If you regularly experience power outages this cordless phone review was written for you. You may enjoy the convenience of cordless phones, but have a concern about not being able to make calls over land line phone services during a power outage. Unlike corded phones, cordless phones require mains power to operate. There is a way of getting the best of both worlds. It's the Panasonic KX-TG1062M corded cordless phone.

The Top Ten Features

1. Corded Cordless Phone - the base unit incorporates a cordless handset that can be used to both make and receive calls during a power outage. As power isn't required to contact friends, family and emergency services they're a smart investment in emergency preparedness.

2. DECT 6.0 Cordless Phone - for whatever reason most corded cordless phones are 5.8 GHz two line cordless phones, but the KX-TG1062M is an exception. DECT 6.0 technology has many advantages and overcomes the cordless phone problems experienced by users of older technology. It's an ideal corded cordless home phone.

3. Panasonic Talking Caller ID - it's a feature introduced by Panasonic in 2009 on the company's top end cordless phones. The phone announces between rings who is calling. Within a week of having this feature you will find it indispensable. Panasonic was the first to introduce it, but others will no doubt follow.

4. Text-to-Speech Technology - is not only responsible for the KX-TG1062M talking caller ID telephone, it's also behind a talking alarm clock. The same technology will also tell you when it's time to recharge a handset.

5. Call ID Block - is a tool for dealing with nuisance calls or callers you don't wish to speak with. It allows users to selectively call block a phone number. The caller will thereafter always get a busy signal.

6. Silent Mode - or night mode. Any or all handsets can be set to silent mode between nominated hours. While the handset ringer is silenced a light will still give notification of calls and messages.

7. Centralized Phonebook - instead of each handset having a separate phonebook that needs to be manually maintained and synchronized the KX-TG1062M has one centralized phonebook that is automatically updated.

8. Handset Locator - a feature that is indispensable even in the most tidy and organized homes.

9. Large LCD Display - and large highly visible characters are responsible for a simple and intuitive user interface.

10. Standard NiMH AAA Batteries - no overpriced batteries with proprietary connectors required. When it's time to replace the batteries they are available almost everywhere.

In addition to these distinctive features the KX-TG1062M also has: backlit keypads, handset speakerphones, keypad on the base, belt clips, programmable speed dialing, assignable ring tones and a digital answering system. These are the usual features that we expect from a top end corded cordless phone.
