To keep this cordless phone review as brief as possible, we will only talk about the features of the Panasonic KX-TG6445T that set it apart from nearly all other DECT 6.0 cordless phones. It's the flag ship of Panasonic's 2009 DECT 6.0 cordless phone range, so it's reasonable to expect some cutting edge features.
Panasonic KX-TG6445T - Cordless Phone ReviewThe Top Ten Features1. Panasonic Talking Caller ID - a must have feature. In between rings the phone announces who is calling. If it's the ex-boy friend, girl friend, wife ... there's no need to move a muscle. Let the cordless answering machine take care of the call. Panasonic was first to introduce the talking caller ID telephone - it's a winner.2. Text-to-Speech Technology - as well as announcing callers the KX-TG6445T can also operate as a talking alarm clock. In can tell you when to get up in the morning, when to leave for an appointment or head out to lunch. The same technology will also tell you when it's time to recharge a handset. 3. Call ID Block - will selectively call block a phone number. The caller simply gets a busy or engaged signal. It's the ultimate weapon for dealing with abusive or nuisance calls. It can even be used to block telemarketing calls from organizations that don't respect the national Do Not Call Register. To comply with telemarketing laws, organizations cannot conceal the number they call from. Whenever a call is received from a telemarketer just add their number to the list. 4. Silent Mode - any or all handsets can be set to silent mode between specified times. This is another indispensable feature that we will add to our cordless phone review check list. It's complimented by a call and message notification light at the base of the antenna, so you're made aware of calls without the handset ringing. 5. Centralized Phonebook - updates are immediately effective across all handsets. Many competing multi handset cordless phones require users to tediously maintain phonebooks on a handset by handset basis. Some think that's a good feature as each user can maintain their own dedicated list of contacts. We can see that in the case of small business with a multi line cordless phone, but not home cordless phones. At home we generally want to use the closest cordless handset without regard to ownership. 6. Handset Locator - with 6 handsets and three teenagers in our house, it's a feature we use almost every day. 7. Cordless Conference Phone - this is not an unusual feature on a cordless home phone, but the Panasonic KX-TG6445T supports a four-way conference capability, which is unusual. It's ideal for maintaining family ties with distant or traveling relatives. 8. Residential Intercom System - a useful feature if you have a multi-level home. It's a practical feature because the KX-TG6445T is a DECT 6.0 phone with excellent range even in a building constructed from dense materials. 9. Large LCD Display - it's actually "very" large. The phone has an intuitive menu system for setting up and using features, which wouldn't be anywhere near as user friendly if it had a regular size display. 10. Standard NiMH Batteries - last but far from least. Anyone who has had to buy an over priced cordless phone battery with a proprietary connection will appreciate this feature. In addition to the above features the KX-TG6445T has all the usual things that we expect from a top end cordless phone, but don't rate a mention in a cordless phone review unless they aren't there: backlit keypads, handset speakerphones, keypad on the base, belt clips, programmable speed dialing, assignable ring tones and a digital answering system. DECT 6.0 TechnologyLike nearly all DECT 6.0 phones the KX-TG6445T delivers excellent cordless phone range, call clarity and secure communication.
