We also tried Googling "cordless phone Samsung" and every other variation on those three words. Samsung was an active player in the cordless phone market, but that was long ago. In the U.S. the term "Samsung phones" is usually understood to refer to cell phones or small office phone systems. The one exception is the UK, where someone had stock piled the final batch of Samsung cordless phones to come off the production line.

Competition

Competition in the cordless phone market is intense. There are several entrenched players: Uniden, Vtech and Panasonic cordless phones - the number one brand. They manufacture phones sold under their own brand names, as well as others. It enables them to achieve even greater economies of scale in the production of low cost consumer goods.

Several other cordless phone manufacturers moved onto greener pastures at about the same time as Samsung. The last Sanyo and Sony cordless phones were also manufactured pre-DECT 6.0 technology. They were either 2.4 GHz or 900 MHz phones.

Evidently Samsung and others decided that the cordless phone market was over crowded and the margins too small. It was time to focus on manufacturing cell phones, smartphones and household appliances.

Long Range Cordless Phones

At the death knell someone came up with the bright idea of a Samsung long range cordless phone. It created a ripple of interest circa 2004-04, but since then - nothing. To the best of our knowledge neither Samsung nor it's distributors secured FCC approval for the phone. It was claimed to have a range of between 10 and 30 miles. This niche is now "owned" by EnGenius wireless phones.

Final Word

The best cordless phones today are DECT 6.0 phones. They are better and significantly cheaper than earlier 2.4 GHz and 900 MHz phones made by Samsung and others. However if you already own a Samsung cordless telephone, consider storing it away for a few years. Amazing as it may seem, vintage and retro cordless phones are collectable and rapidly appreciating in value.

On the other hand the latest and best cordless telephones are Panasonic, Siemens, Vtech or Uniden phones.
