DECT or DECT 6.0 technology is the most widely used cordless phone technology. In the U.S. it's still considered relatively new, but in fact was first developed during the 1990's. In 2005 the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) allocated the 1.9 GHz frequency exclusively for the purpose of voice communication. What is DECT 6.0 Technology?

Lower frequencies generally propagate better than higher frequencies. Hence cordless phone range is seldom an issue with DECT 6.0 phones. The obvious exceptions are very large homes or those built with materials that obstruct the passage of communication. In these cases the answer is to use range extenders such as those available on Panasonic long range cordless phones.
