Cordless Phone Reviews and Ratings

Motorola Cordless Phones
K301 Big Button Cordless Phone

The K301 Big button cordless phone is one of the top selling Motorola cordless phones. It's a competitively priced DECT 6.0 phone that directly addresses the needs of a large group of people who are frustrated by many of the latest cordless phones. In particular they are not impressed by the trend towards smaller handsets, tiny buttons and increased complexity.

K301 Motorola Cordless Phone - Key Features

In addition to "big buttons" the K301 has these features:

Motorola Big Button Cordless Phone K301
  • Extra loud adjustable ringer
  • A highly visible visual ringer
  • Adjustable earpiece volume
  • Backlit displays
  • Loud speakerphones in the handsets
  • Call waiting / caller ID
  • Speed dials x 9 memories
  • The K301 is a DECT 6.0 cordless phone. The benefits of this include:

  • No interference from WiFi networks
  • Excellent call clarity
  • Secure communication
  • Extended talk time between recharges
  • Handset range up to 160 feet inside and more outside.
  • Note: if you require a cordless phone with answering machine the K301 is not for you. There are apparently no corresponding big button Motorola cordless telephones with answering machines.

    Other Big Button Cordless Phones

The best alternatives to the K301 Motorola cordless telephone are a pair of big button Uniden phones. One has a cordless phone answering machine and the other doesn't.

Uniden Big Button Cordless Phone EZA12997

Uniden EZi2996 Big Button Cordless - no answering machine

In most respects this Uniden phone corresponds feature for feature with the Motorola phone. However it has a few extras that to our mind justify the slightly higher price:
  • Audio boost up to 20dB and adjustable audio tones
  • Callers are announced via the handsets
  • Expandable up to 6 handsets vs 5 on the K301
  • Uniden EZAI2997 Big Button Cordless - with answering machine

It has the same features as the EZi2996, plus

  • Digital phone answering system - no tapes required
  • Do not disturb key that will direct calls to the answering system
  • Summary

Motorola cordless phones consistently get good reviews, but in our view the two Uniden cordless phones are better value for money. If anything the K301 is just a little too basic and it lacks the good looks of the Uniden phones.
