Motorola Cordless Telephone - Pros and Cons
- Cordless Phone Ratings -

How does the Motorola cordless telephone range stack up against the competition? It's a question that we are regularly asked. Motorola is an iconic brand and one that most of us immediately associate with advanced communications technology. Unfortunately such associations can be misleading. Consider two other iconic brands: AT&T cordless phones and GE cordless phones, neither of which is any longer associated with it's namesake.

The challenge for consumers is that many of us rely upon brand names as a quick and easy way of sorting the wheat from the chaff. Instead of researching the options, we pick up the latest Panasonic, Vtech, ... or Motorola cordless telephone. It's a strategy that doesn't alway work out.

Cordless Phone Comparison

The latest cordless phones are all DECT 6.0 phones. It's a technology that overcomes most of the issues that users encountered in the past with 900 MHz, 2.4 GHz and even 5.8 GHz phones. Irrespective of the brand users of DECT 6.0 cordless phones should expect: interference free calls, excellent range, battery life and secure communication.

While all DECT phones have much in common there are also significant differences. In the case of Motorola cordless phones some of the most noticeable pros and cons include:

Motorola cordless phone

In common with all DECT 6.0 phones, Motorola cordless phones enable multiple handsets to share a single phone line. Most are sold with at least two handsets and usually between four and six. One consequence of this is that nearly all current model cordless phones have a shared phone book that can be updated and accessed from any connected handset. In the case of Motorola phones each handset has it's own dedicated phonebook. Adds, deletes and amendments must be repeated manually on all handsets to keep them in synch.

Summary

The current Motorola cordless telephone range is stylish and affordable. On the downside they are first generation DECT 6.0 phones in need of a significant software update. Consumers will no doubt continue to buy them because they recognize the brand name. Are they top rated cordless phones? No. Motorola phones are well down the list of best selling phones. They struggle to compete with the latest Vtech and Panasonic cordless telephones.
